Skillet Wins Big at the 2020 Dove Awards

The 51st Annual GMA Dove Awards were held in October this year. In place of the traditional live TBN event, the association released pre-recorded performances and acceptance speeches due to COVID-19.

The presenters and performers list read like a Who’s Who list of today’s most beloved Christian artists. To name a few…Lecrae, Mandisa, and For King and Country, were joined by special guests like Cece Winans, Kari Jobe, Natalie Grant, the Oak Ridge Boys and many more.

Winning for both Rock/Contemporary Album for Victorious and Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song for Legendary, Skillet had an amazing year.

Skillet had some tough competition for both categories. For Rock/Contemporary Song of the year, they came up against nominees Demon Hunter, Richlin, LEDGER, and John Mark McMillan.

For Rock/Contemporary Album of the year, the other nominees were Apollo LTD, Demon Hunter, Disciple, and Red. They definitely had some stiff competition. But, ultimately, their incredible album and rocking Legendary anthem walked away with the award.

Kicking off a new tour in June of 2021 in Nickelsdorf, Austria, they will then continue onto the following locations in Europe and the UK: Interlaken, Switzerland; Castle Donington, UK; Hradec Králové, Czech Republic; Milan, Italy; and lastly Rome, Italy.

The band will hit the US in July of 2021 in Norfolk, VA. For their first two stops stateside, LEDGER will open for them in Norfolk and then again in Clifton Park, NY. They will then move on to Mineral City, OH; West Allis, WI; Cardwell, MT; Gothenburg, NE; Spencer, IA; and will wrap up the tour in Orlando, FL in September.
